AI-Powered Features and Third-Party Services

Anthropic Claude API

When you use our AI-powered meal recommendation features (available as a paid premium feature), your data is processed by Anthropic Inc. through their Claude API to generate personalized meal suggestions.

Data Sent to Anthropic:

  • Your recent cooking history (meal names, dates, ratings, meal types)
  • Recipe names and tags from your cooking sessions
  • Household AI preference settings (variety seeking, cuisine preferences, dietary restrictions)
  • Staple meal patterns and rotation frequencies
  • Your feedback on previous AI recommendations

We do NOT send to Anthropic:

  • Full recipe instructions or ingredient lists
  • Personal comments or notes
  • Your email address or identifying account information

Anthropic's Data Practices:

  • No AI Training: Anthropic does not train their AI models on API data unless explicitly opted in (we have not opted in)
  • 30-Day Retention: API inputs and outputs are stored for 30 days for trust and safety monitoring, then automatically deleted
  • No Advertising: Anthropic's business model is API usage fees, not advertising or data monetization
  • Compliance: Anthropic is GDPR and CCPA compliant

Your Control:

AI-powered features are optional premium features. You can choose whether to subscribe to and use these features. If you choose not to use AI recommendations, your data will not be sent to Anthropic.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and improve our meal planning and recipe management services
  • Generate personalized meal recommendations
  • Enable collaboration within households and friend groups
  • Track cooking history and dietary patterns
  • Send service-related notifications (if enabled)

Within the Application

  • Household Members: Members of your household can see recipes, meal plans, and cooking history shared within the household
  • Friends: Users you connect with as friends can see shared recipe collections and social activity (if you've enabled sharing)
  • Public Recipes: Recipes you submit for public review (if approved) may be visible to all users

Third-Party Services

  • Anthropic Claude API: Only when using AI-powered features (as described above)
  • No Advertising Networks: We do not currently share your data with advertising networks
  • No Data Brokers: We do not sell your personal information to data brokers

Data Retention

  • Active Accounts: We retain your data as long as your account is active
  • Deleted Accounts: When you delete your account, your personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days
  • AI Feedback: Feedback on AI recommendations is stored indefinitely to improve service quality, but can be deleted upon request
  • Backups: Backup copies may persist for up to 90 days for disaster recovery purposes

Children's Privacy

Foodie Life is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

International Users

Foodie Life is hosted in the United States. If you access our service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States.
